“It takes a village to raise a child,” says an African proverb. So too it takes – a global village -- to fight malaria.
As president of the Free Africa Foundation, we have been working with the Hedge Funds community of New York, to establish “Malaria-Free Zones” in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania. I have visited villages in these countries and seen first hand the devastating effects of malaria. And it is a totally preventable and treatable disease. We have been draining swamps, spraying villages, and providing the people insecticide-treated bed nets and anti-malarial drugs. The expressions of joy and happiness on the faces of the people (see photos below) make our efforts more than worthwhile.
Said Mr. Kehinde of Itu-Agon, Lagos (Nigeria) in February, 2006: “I nearly lost my 3 year old child 4 days ago when he suddenly developed malaria symptoms in the night in the face of lack of dispensary/clinic but thanks RBM drugs provided, all went well after some hours after usage”.
Mama Bose of the same village was not fortunate to get any of the malaria drugs but Mama Ladi came to her rescue with her own dose of Fansider Anti- Malarial Tablets. “Extend my appreciation to these people from America (Free Africa Foundation/Hedge Fund)”, Mama Bose said.
Please sponsor me with donations and help me make more African villages “Malaria-Free Zones.” See this link:
